Skidding Tests for Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd.

Skidding tests have been carried out on a car and tyres supplied by Messrs Rolls Royce on our wet asphalt track. The car would not lock its front wheels, rears only locking during tests.

The deceleration/time graph was recorded by the Cambridge Accelerometer and velocity/time and distance/time charts obtained from the Integraph. Figures quoted below are based on at least 6 test runs each.

Car. Bentley. AUL.1. Rears locked.
Tyres. 6.50/17. I.P. 26lbs/sq.ins.

Pattern. Minimum coefficient of friction. Max. coefficient of friction. To stop car from point at which car speed was 30 mph.

India. .34 .54 76.0 feet.
Dunlop Kl. .35 .50 76.0 feet.
Dunlop C. .37 .53 71.0 feet.
