the two trucks at present at the Works are being used at the most necessary places, where the heaviest material has to be moved.

The number of labourers saved by these two trucks is approximately

(5) WOOD WHEELS - REPAIRS.

Mr. Whitehead and Capt. Hallam went down to Messrs Holmes Bros. with regard to the estimate for repairing wood wheels and they managed to get Messrs Holmes to reduce their estimate by £3 per set.

(6) REPAIRS TO BE-DEVILLED CARS.

A very bad example of this came to W. this week; our technical Dept. have examined the car and both they and Capt. Hallam thought that this matter ought to be brought up before the meeting, with a view to getting the opinion of the conference on what our policy ought to be with regard to repairs to these cars.

The Meeting were of the opinion that when a be-devilled car comes to the Works, the Repair Dept. should write and inform the owner that some parts on his car are not of R.R. make and if, as often happens, these parts are dangerous, the owner should be informed of this fact and at the same time an estimate of the cost of replacing these parts and making his chassis as it was originally, should be sent to him, and he should be strongly urged to have this done. If he refuses the meeting were of the opinion that we should not handle any parts or part of a system which was not R.R. but that units which had not been interfered with, we should repair.

It is thought that the Sales Inspection Dept. might have other views, so it is proposed that this matter be brought up at the conference at Derby, on the 16th June.
