20 H.P. Car.

In reference to your Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG/6.6.29 20 H.P. Car Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}11/B4.6.29. We certainly do not wish to interfere with the routine of this car's work whilst it is doing its first 10,000 miles. The idea was, that as Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} is anxious to obtain a confirmatory opinion by me as to the car's running after it has run a few thousand miles, this might best have been achieved by the car being deflected from its usual route in order that it may meet me at Boulogne and save time in that way, but it would appear to be more convenient if this proposal is modified to the extent that I will drive pick up the SS.{S. Smith} Chassis 21-EX which will be waiting for me on Saturday morning at Boulogne, and drive straight through to Paris, and instead of going straight on from Paris to Grenoble I will take Chateauroux on the way and drive the 20 h.p. the necessary distance to form an opinion as to its running.

I will advise Chateauroux definitely when I can be expected.

It is then understood that after the car has done its 10,000 miles it shall be sent down to me at Grenoble where I shall carry out similar tests, chiefly in respect of temperature rise - to those which have been made with 21-EX.

I will give particulars as to my address at Grenoble later on.
