Dear Sirs, Attention of A.{Mr Adams} Bruce. Esq.
With reference to your letter of the 18th inst., in connection with Aluminium-tin bearing material, we regret to have to inform you that there has been an unfortunate delay in getting this job moving as fast as we had expected, owing to further research work which has been carried out in the Research Laboratories at Rolls Royce, showing that slight amendments to the specification of the material have definitely improved the bearings very considerably.
We are therefore having to make a complete change-over and all bearings which had been produced for various Clients in our shops have had to be scrapped and we are making a fresh start. This is, of course, to the benefit of the potential users, but has unfortunately caused serious delay in getting bearings away to our customers, but we do wish to assure you that we will lose no time in making bushes to your blue prints so that you may have an opportunity of trying them out in actual service. We will be writing you again shortly as to the progress we are making.
Yours faithfully,
For WELLWORTHY PISTON RINGS LTD.,
Technical Manager.
