-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KW.30.11.35. Steering. We have not succeeded in making our steering as good as the La{L. A. Archer} Salle steering. We have repeated the test putting the La{L. A. Archer} Salle steering on one of our cars, and by measurement the road shocks that come through it are only half those of the Rolls-Royce design. We are now looking into the matter to see if we cannot use the actual La{L. A. Archer} Salle proportions. Brakes. We still have more sponge in the brakes than we like. We have issued a report indicating that some of the troubles lie in the drums, and these are being improved. Fan. We are having good results with the experimental fan. Jacks. Both Lockheeds and Smiths are working on SpectreCodename for Phantom III Jacks. Luffing Up. So far we have not had this trouble with the Stromberg Duplex Carburetter. Shock Damper Rattles. There is no doubt that the SpectreCodename for Phantom III chassis shows up shock damper noises more than the Ph.II chassis. However, we have satisfied ourselves that if the shock absorbers are 100% they cannot be heard in the cars that we have at present on test. Valve Gear Clatter. We are working on this problem. | ||
