To BJ. from Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 78420 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/LG30.1.26. SQUEAKING FRONT BRAKES. There is no scheme yet for dealing with squeaks on front brakes of Phantom cars. This is a matter which will have to be taken up with the design people. The only way to overcome the complaint is to fix dampers to the brake drums. We know that there are certain difficulties when carrying this out on the front brakes because of clearances for the steering parts etc. The front brakes on the Phantom car are the same as on the Silver Ghost. From our experience we should say that although front wheel brake squeaks exist, it is not a serious complaint. If there is a car which has given considerable trouble in this respect, we should like to investigate it. Fitting of special dampers means extra weight and complications.
