450 BENTLEY III STEERING. (1) Consider Holkenberger layout atrocious and should not be adopted. (2) Desirable to have absolute minimum of mechanical controls on steering wheel. If automatic throttle stop used and dampers not controllable there need be none. (3) If steering box is mounted well forward, it should be remembered that 1 ft. of our present column weighs and costs more than 1 ft. of side steering tube. Mounting of box should be such that very little load is taken by column so that its size can be reduced. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev.
