RE GOSHAWK ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.
--------------------------------

With reference to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn2/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 28.12.22. the suggestions put forward have been considered and the following is what we propose to do:-

1. We propose to raise the four way branch/conduit on the nearside of the chassis .500" so as to make a much easier bend for the cable at the point where it enters the four way piece. We do not, however, see any reason why water should enter as suggested, as this was considered when the design was originally got out, and it was decided that since it is inside the chassis side channel and is protected by the undershield, there should be no difficulty in this respect.

2. We agree that something should be done to prevent the terminal of the low tension wire to the distributor breaking off, and we propose to arrange for a terminal which supports the insulated part of the cable.

3. It has been our intention all along that the low tension wire from the coil to the distributor should be threaded through the Bakelite Elbow along with the high tension wires. If this is not so, then the Works are not making them to drawing.

4. We consider that the bolts for holding down the coil are quite long enough but we believe the cause of the trouble is that the depth of the bosses behind the flange which carries the coil on the cylinder cover are not made to the depth shown on our detail drawing.

Items 3 and 4. appear to be troubles due to the Works not working to drawing, therefore we are taking the matter up with them so that you will not have a recurrence of this trouble on any chassis which come on test.
