Notes of Meeting. Ex1/E18.4.35 - 2 - four. Re 100% Borg and Beck clutch referred to in former Minutes, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} thought it was possible to get this into one or two of the remaining experimental cars to be built. Re Comparative Costs, Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} said that this was still being investigated and thought that this work would continue for some months. PHANTOMS. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that we had definitely decided to arrange with the coachbuilders to introduce the insulating scheme on cars going through. BENTLEY. 5-B-IV is now in France. Certain troubles have arisen which were discussed, chiefly in connection with the springing and braking and a fan blade and bracket fracture which had occurred and as it was not the first of its type required special investigation. Re Dynamos - the position is that a big air cooled dynamo will go out to be tried on 5-B-IV and will fit existing Bentley cars and present production. A small air-cooled dynamo will be tried on 21-G-IV and, if satisfactory, could be introduced on the Bentley, entailing an alteration to the crankcase but which at the same time would have the advantage of making the Bentley and 20/25 crankcases interchangeable. Re Supercharger for the Bentley - Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said that the Bentley car with the rigged up Graham Paige supercharger would be available for us to try soon after Easter. Report Refs Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}11/KW.12.4.35 was referred to, together with E's memo. E1/HP.11.4.35, and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} will issue a scheme to the Experimental Department embodying the result of the experimental work. | ||
