The valve colouring is - viz :- A light brown ring about .25" wide around the seating and the remainder up to the valve stem is a greyish green. The underside of the valves is rough, and the top sides smooth. Valve springs. See running report. Cylinders. For cylinder leaks see running report. The cylinder bores are O.K. There is very little carbon deposit on the cylinder heads. Pistons. Before the hand-starter was fitted, the gears etc. were treated with prussion-blue and then painted with Sozol (a special rust preventative) and then when it was received on test, BB. mineral oil was injected into the case. The above precaution was taken in view of our last experience with the hand-starter being rusted up after a long run.
