COPY TO [redacted] HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DRIVING SEAT POSITIONS. J.3. We send herewith N.Sch.3387. shewing the driving seat positions for J.3. COLUMN AND SEATS. As previously stated the three steering wheel positions are the same as now used on the 25HP. as also are the cushion and squab dimensions. The "G" & "F" Type Columns are the same length. PEDALS. The pedals are the same for all steerings with the exception that for "F" Type the pedal plate stem in each case is moved back one notch on the adjustment, the pedals having adjustable stems in all cases. The footboard height at the dash and its slope is the same as the 25HP. We have to send you a scheme shewing the accelerator pedal and dashbracket, the former being made almost entirely out of P.2. parts. You will then be able to set out the floorboards. There is a well for the heels of the driver's feet. LEVERS. The lengths of the side levers are the same as on the 25.HP. and also the forward positions of the brake lever knob relative to the dash. The gear lever knob in its rearmost position is as far back as it comes on standard cars but due to the increase in travel it goes further forward. This must be allowed for in the forward direction or the lever would be pushed out by the seat. The full value of an easy change top to third gear can only be fully made use of if the gear lever is readily accessible. Therefore we have therefore taken advantage of setting out the brake lever stem opposite the knob of the gear lever so the latter can be moved out to 18ins from the centre in the case of "C" & "E" Steering. The clearance between the knuckles and the door pillar will be the same as now as the brake lever handle leans inwards. On "F" Steering due to the narrowness of the screen even with this treatment of the levers the gear lever cannot be moved beyond its present position of 16.75ins. from the centre. We have to send you a scheme for the brake lever quadrant. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
