V2934 Expl: Dept: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG. 7th. July 1928. V2431 The Fairey Aviation Co. Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Major Barlow. We attach herewith charts giving consumption of the 7/1 compression ratio engine at various loads and speeds. At the time these curves were taken, we were not out to shew the best possible consumption, but they do represent a very good average. For any special job, we believe we can however improve upon them. We are now carrying out a series of tests to shew the most economical mixture at various speeds. To arrive at this position it is necessary to lose a certain number of revs. due to weakness. At reduced throttles or under altitude conditions, we can do this without causing any harm. Mr. Rowledge and myself will be returning from Chichester on Wednesday the 11th. and we will arrange to call in at Hayes after lunch so that we can discuss with you the figures, and we hope to bring with us more information. Yours faithfully, | ||
