Re Easy Starting Devices.

With reference to car 7CA, the priming device has not proved an unmixed blessing so far. It was found that the little back pressure valve leaked badly where it was attached to the float feed. This has not been made quite right up to the present. The serious defect, however, was that the little back pressure valve at the first time of using it, did not act, and it blew the petrol out of the float chamber. This, no doubt, can be made much more reliable, but it shows the advisability of trying the other scheme which is not attached to the float feed.

I also find that car 7CA is more difficult to keep running when starting cold than was the case with 58NA.{Mr Nadin} This may be due to the fact that 58NA{Mr Nadin} may have a slight initial pressure on the extra air valve, or it may be due to the fact that we always use on 58NA{Mr Nadin} the little cock over the extra air valve, which makes the engine very reliable when once an explosion has been obtained (by priming the induction pipe), so that therefore I am not quite sure whether it is not still advisable to fit the cock over the air valve. You could try, however, a quicker adjustment
