So far as the purchase of the engine is concerned, as the writer pointed out to Mr. Robotham, we are continually further developing certain details and we should be agreeable to let you have either complete components or it may be a completely new engine from time to time as various details were developed. It would seem, therefore, unnecessary for you to purchase this engine and in any event it would be extremely costly, as you will appreciate from your own experience the enormous expenditure involved in building experimental engines of this kind.

We feel that the combination is unique, insofar that we on our part have not the slightest desire or intention to encroach on any of your markets and we are simply interested in the manufacture of motor-bicycles, which of course is quite diverse from your products. We feel that we have valuable experience which can be placed at your disposal, and at the same time, frankly we are of the opinion that we can take advantage of the situation, insofar that we have developed our engine on certain lines and it is possible that you may suggest other details to us to which we may not have given full consideration. In any event our collaboration may suggest certain avenues to us that hitherto have been unexplored.

It is understood that you are particularly interested in research on super-charging and generally getting gas into the cylinder. We have ourselves conducted certain experiments on these lines that we have not actually made use of in the production of our existing racing engine. It is understood that any publicity of any sort or kind that is sought or obtained in connection with any tests that you undertake with this engine, or any figures that you obtain, shall not be undertaken without mutual arrangement.

This briefly sets out details of our discussion and whilst writing you in connection with this matter we would like to record our appreciation of the offer of assistance that you had provisionally made to us through one of our friends in connection with details of static and dynamic Balancing. We would like to add that we have always had an admiration both for your concern and its product and would like you to feel that
