| -2- Speedo Reading. Brakes relined front and rear 33,721 Exhaust silencer, inner pipe of expansion chamber repaired. " Steering - new bush and fitting bolt to X steering tube anchorage. " Propellor shaft new universal joint fitted. " Big end bearings failed No.1, 2 and 5. 34,319 Exhaust valve No.3 cracked across face, others badly worn - new set fitted " All main bearings taken up " New scraper rings to all pistons " New clutch plate fitted, pressure plate re-ground " Exhaust system repaired, baffles became loose etc. 37,748 Off side rear road spring main and third leaf broken 39,665 (Brakes) Hydraulic master cylinder failed. 40,700 High tension feed to Distributor terminal corroded 44,418 Starter motor Bendix drive Pin sheared " The oil consumption for the first 17,000 miles averaged 1,000 m.p.g. but latterly this consumption has dropped to 300 m.p.g. As already stated we fitted a set of scraper rings to the pistons this gave us an improved oil consumption for a period of 4,000 to 5,000 miles then gradually deteriorated. The maximum bore wear of this engine taken at 35,500 miles was .013". AUSTIN - 10 HP. This car has been very reliable and trouble free throughout its mileage of 20,000 miles. -continued- | ||
