The following is a brief summary of the discussion held this morning :- BENTLEY. (1) Hym. Coverley has agreed to complete the engine mounting for 5-B-lV. You should follow up the details and make sure it suits your requirements. In particular, in addition to the raised front mounting we wanted a single point mounting on the crankshaft centre line incorporated in the front cross member, so that we could separate the advantages of the raised mounting/at the ordinary height when both were of the same type. (2) Hym. Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} Hyman & Swindall must follow up the correct ignition governor advance curves for (a) present standard 20/25 cylinder head, (b) deturbulated 20/25 cylinder head, and (c) deturbulated Bentley cylinder head, and see if we can get something to offer to customers made of R.R. parts. (3) A.F.M. Hall's 3½ litre Saloon will be fitted with non-fade brake liners on Monday next. (4) G.R. Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} Ratcliffe should undertake to improve the slow running of the present standard Bentley with the large carburettors and induction pipe. Swindall should get a power curve to see if the large carburettors run with the small induction pipe lose power appreciably. Ratcliffe should investigate the sparking plug gaps and also the bridge piece on the carburettors. (5) Hym. Hyman should carry on with the tests and complete the simplified and lightened exhaust system on B-2-AK. | ||
