-2- B.80 NO.5 UNIT - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (3) Oil consumption and blow by for 1 hour at 4000 r.p.m., if consumption in excess of 2 pts/hr. repeat. (Oil pressure 30-35 lbs/sq.in. at 4000 r.p.m. inlet temp. of 100°C.) (4) Detonation and ignition advance tests under conditions (a) Exhaust silencer as in (1). (b) Redline petrol. (c) Weakest maintained max power mixture strength. (d) Water outlet at 80°C. (e) With Buick air silencer. Governor characteristic with TDC setting should conform with non detonating characteristic. (5) This unit should be equipped with best induction system found by tests on No.4 unit and the previous tests should be carried out with it. Take metering and any distribution tests specified by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} and finalled off with chassis petrol feed arrangement. (6) Unit generally to be tuned up ready for chassis, (a) Idling to be set and whether clear of overoiling on opening up after idling. (b) All leaks (water and oil) cured. (c) Timing gears to be O.K. for rattle and whine, both light and under load. B.80 NO.1 UNIT. Unit removed from 30.G.VII to be fitted on bed and without alteration power curves to be taken in view of poor power on dynamometer.
