-2- (b) Asbestos under Rear Floor. On all cars such as B.5. and Cresta having a low rear floor it is necessary to provide an asbestos sheet under the nearside rear floor to prevent the heat from the exhaust silencer from setting light to the wooden board. This trouble has occurred on all B.5. cars up to date. (c) Ash trays. The bakelite ashtrays in rear arm rests which have been fitted to the more recent experimental cars look very cheap, and do not harmonize with the interior finish. On all experimental cars we would prefer to have the original chromium circular ashtray or the chromium square one. (d) Side Scuttle Ventilator. This fitting on all of the experimental cars is very roughly carried out. The flap should be flush fitting, similar to that which we used years ago when side scuttle ventilators were commonly required. A larger flap may be used if it is a help in obtaining better class fitting. (e) Body Mounting. The clearances between the body and chassis, especially on 11.B.5. have not been to drawing. On 11.B.5. the body crossmember at the back of the front seats was not arched at the centre as indicated on PD.272 to clear the rivets of the frame cross at the centre. The rear seat heelboard fouls the rivets on the chassis frame side member. The screws attaching the rear floor were too long and foul the frame. (f) Front Seats. The front seats of 12.B.5. 4.B.50 and 1.R.1. are to be copies of the Vanvooren tubular seats of 8.B.5. both in construction and in seating position. The tubular front seats of 11.B.5. in spite of the packing fitted, for the squab had too much backward lean. Cont'd.... | ||
