Parts. Result of Test.

A.C. Bye-pass Oil Filter. 13,268 miles. The filter unit was not changed during this mileage and samples taken at intervals showed that the oil remained clean. This feature is very good and recommended for standardisation.

45° Engine Gears. 19,320 miles. There was a noticeable thrash period at 850 r.p.m. at the end of the mileage. At no time were the gears noticeably better than standard for quietness. There is however no objection to standardisation if they facilitate production as similar troubles are experienced with present standard gears.

Crankcase in L.5 Alloy. 19,320 miles. Satisfactory subject to strip report.

Delco-Remy Distributor. 19,320 miles. No trouble experienced. New contact breaker arms with strengthened rubbing blocks fitted for last 6,433 miles running, lost .007" point clearance during this time, suggesting wear of new rubbing blocks. Clearance had remained constant on previous standard Delco arms.

Thermostatic Control of The shutters covered 19,320 miles.
waterflow and fixed The thermostatic scheme was modified
radiator shutters. just before leaving for Works, and covered 10,561 miles. It was satisfactory until near the end of the mileage, when the water temperature periodically fell to 65-70°c. during the running. This was attributed to the thermostat unit sticking open.
