The minimum position is fixed by the GB.3564 lever coming against the gearbox casing and is not apparent when dismantled.

7. Control rod to damper unit lengthened to obtain zero position in control unit with hand control at soft.

This control differs from the old type in having a definite zero stop in the box.

8. Flats filed on bottom washers of front roll rod links where fouling torque arm studs KB.70.

The bracket FB.3998 requires to be slightly taller.

9. Front roll rod .6875" diam. (ex Oldsmobile) fitted in place of FB.3999 .625 diam. rod.

The characteristics with the 3/4" rod were inferior to those with the 11/16" rod on which all previous testing on B.III has been carried out. An R.R. produced .6875" rod to FB.3999 is urgently required to replace th Oldsmobile rod for 15,000 miles test and for bumping.

10. The accelerator pedal return spring has been made to assist in closing the throttle.

The lever on the throttle control countershaft have been locked together. This was necessary to overcome the sticking throttle giving a widely varying idling speed, an ever present trouble on the twin S.U. system. The hand throttle leverage has been reduced to overcome the extra spring load and sufficient hand opening can still be obtained. The pedal pressure remains the same.

The following defects have been noted and will require attention -

11. Damper control unit not working and speedo drive not turning.

12. Jumps out of second gear.

13. Direct syncromesh both sticks, and crashes on occasions.
