204 To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.11/HP.29.10.34. c. LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} CLE. LA.{L. A. Archer} EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} re Streamline Bodies. In connection with the so called streamline bodies mentioned in report EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/GC.26.10.34, it is very unfortunate that such cars in which the body work indicates the acme of performance and speed should suffer a handicap in respect to increased weight and weight distribution, particularly if the public show an inclination for this type of body work. Personally I think there is no justification for a tail to add 3 cwts over the standard saloon with boot. This weight is also in an undesirable position greatly increasing the slip angle of the rear tyres and affecting the stability of the steering both on corners and on the straight where cambered roads are encountered. I would suggest that before bodies are put in hand EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} should be made responsible for going into the specifications technically, to see that the construction shall not introduce unnecessary weight in undesirable positions.
