To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy. X3806 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gy1/LG3. 5.29. CENTRAL LUBRICATION. These drip plug caps we are receiving from Luvax now seem a much stronger job than those we had previously, but we still think there is room for improvement. As it is the cap makes hexagonal indentation on the aluminium washer, so that after one tightening up the washers are virtually scrap and new ones have to be fitted to prevent oil weeping at every joint. To prevent this it would be necessary to mill the hexagon out of round bar, leaving a circular surface of large diameter but small thickness to bear on the alum. washer. We think the washers could then be used a good many times before it would be necessary to scrap them and that this provision would go to ensure a cleanly appearance of the central lubrication on our cars.
