W.A.Robotham, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited,
DERBY.

Dear Mr.Robotham,

Many thanks for yours of the 2nd February, reference Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/JH, from which I note you have arranged to keep a record of the performances of your various electric clocks. I look forward to having your further news when this is available. Meanwhile, I am sure that in due course you will be able to confirm that the error is consistent subject to the normal use of the clock.

The only point I would like to raise in this connection is that it is necessary not to lose sight of the fact that the instrument being electric the error is cumulative, and allowance should be made accordingly.

I am sorry that you have to report that the clock is noisy but, with your collaboration, I am of opinion that we ought to be able to satisfy you in regard to this. We can, I am sure, introduce modifications which will effect an improvement. It is, however, necessary to ensure that the clock is mounted in such a way that the facia panel does not accentuate any little noise.
