44635 IN. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ------- Referring to PN{Mr Northey}6/DM.{D. Munro} 3. 6. 24. the question of the corrosion of the Exhaust is having careful consideration. We have experiments in hand at the moment for treating the Exhaust Pipe and its end piece when welded on, by a new treatment known as "Calorizing". We anticipate that this will obviate corrosion entirely. Anyway, we are trying it out. With regard to Sherardizing, that is, Zinc Spraying, this cannot be done before assembling, as it absolutely prevents welding of one part to another. In this connection, we are again considering a scheme for treating the parts by this method at these Works, but we have more faith at the moment in "Calorizing". BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} [Signature] | ||
