Tests carried out on axle control loads and front spring ratings.

We carried out a test to ascertain what loads are thrown on the ball ends by quarreling of which you speak when this axle control was first produced. Attached is a report on the test. The reason the load thrown on the ball end is so small is because the spring being in compression on one side deflects very easily. On our bumper tests we carefully watched for any signs of wear due to any excessive loads due to this quarreling, but have never been able to detect any. We also endeavoured to ascertain if we could measure any difference in the rating of the front springs with and without the axle control. We thought this might put up the effective spring rating.
