In the last paragraph of Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/NRC{N. R. Chandler}1/MW6-4-29, Captain Hallam mentions that he is under the impression that you are now springing Chasses for Australia the same as if they were for use in England. It occurs to me that this may possibly be, at all events partially, due to information given in mine - Pt.5/EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/1-11-28 - in which I mention that the adoption of Hydraulic Shock Absorbers both front and rear would, I expect, make it possible to spring more lightly for Australia than I had been advocating in the past.

If you are actually now springing exactly the same as for English conditions, I shall be glad to know, and would also like the Chasses Numbers of such cars as have already been despatched with Springs of the lighter rating; this, because I particularly wish to watch as closely as possible their behaviour, and also to enable me to have all available data, especially in view of possibility (not necessarily probability) of complaint.

The last definite ruling I have of yours is shown in your memo BY/1/G/18-7-28, and it is rather important that I should know whether you are adhering to this, or have decided to reduce the strength to English standards, or, perhaps, travel part way towards doing this.

Your early reply will oblige.

Pt.

P.S. Have you any further information which you could let me have re the Springs mentioned in yours BY/MTN7/N.25-9-28.
