4¼ LITRE BENTLEY MAIN BEARINGS.

Referring to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}6/M/17.11.37. the proposal to increase the clearances in the main bearings as outlined in your memo was purely in connection with a further attempt to run A.C.2 . This attempt has been made and failed on the centre bearing, and therefore we are going straight back to AC.7, but there is no gain to be obtained by increasing the bearing clearance from .003 + ½ - ¼ .In order to make certain that there is no question as to this being the correct policy, I have discussed same both with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}
