Attention of Mr.J.B.Dixon, Car Experimental Department. Dear Sirs, We thank you for yours of the 24th instant, reference Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}11/JH., advising us that the special SUPERFLEXIT Petrol Pipe you have recently tested on a Phantom III chassis has now been tested out, and though not leaking, you are of the opinion that it has stiffened up too much. We have since received this pipe, and have cut it up for examination, and beg to make the following report:- 1) The pipe has certainly stiffened through heat, but still appears to be perfectly serviceable. 2) It did not leak at 50-lbs. pressure with paraffin on test. 3) The cellulose material, although somewhat dried out, is in good condition throughout the whole length of the tube, and still quite petrol-proof. We think this pipe would have given you at least another 20,000 miles service, even with Esso or Azur, and we imagine this mileage, plus the original, would give three years service to the average private owner. -1- | ||
