re Noise Insulation of Bodies.
There are three further points which should be added to our specification for SpectreCodename for Phantom III 3.
(1) All body and roof panelling to be lined out with 1/4" felt securely stuck on.
(2) Pedal plate to be provided with thick felt close up to the pedal stems. For this purpose it appears to me we ought to arrange very thick felt washers, circular in shape around the pedal stems backed up by sheet metal plates or cups held up to the bottom side of the board by springs attached to the board itself, so that these glands are always in contact, whatever the pedal is doing.
(3) Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} also reports that there is a gap where the steering column passes through the dash and floorboards which has to be filled with felt to stop all connection between the bonnet space and the body space. We are somewhat surprised that this should be the case as so far as we are aware there is a felt ring provided for sealing the column where it passes through the dashboard fitting. This matter should be investigated.
