from a differential gear in which the outer case is driven as shown on "N" Scheme 138, and one similar to the existing 40/50 in which the outer case is a free aluminium casting. We had schemed the former before we saw your proposal for the three-speed gear box and since then we think that the type in which the outer casing is driven would be found to be ver y convenient to apply whatever the arrangement of differential.

With reference to scheme "N" 146 this is merely one suggestion. We propose to make some more in connection with the new arrangement of brake differentials.
