Condition report for engine unit no. 3, detailing wear and damage to the crankcase, crankshaft, and damper.

NO.3. ENGINE UNIT

Crankcase & Bearings. RR. Scheme 216. LeC 3185-3159.
1. Crankcase top and bottom halves in good condition.
2. Slight score marks in cylinder liner bores.
3. Main Bearings
Cap halves - all bearings cracked and bearing metal broken away in patches on all bearings except No.8. (flywheel end).
Centre bearing good on thrust faces.
Case halves - All bearings cracked and metal broken away on all bearings except Nos. 7 & 8.
Centre bearing good on thrust faces but badly broken up on bearing surface.
4. All banjo connections have caved in on joint faces due to weak section of metal. Pieces have been checked up and found correct to drawing.

Crankshaft - RR. Schemes 107-116-149-160

1. Journals and crankpins are in good condition.
2. Signs of flywheel fidgeting on drive flange face.

Crankshaft Damper. LeC 3142.

1. Centre Piece - signs of water having reached rear outer diameter adjacent to oil thrower.
2. Damper Wheels - friction faces slightly scored.
3. "Halo" bushes and discs are in good condition.
4. Distance Pieces - sharp inner edges of springs are rubbing badly, and scoring outer diameter of distance pieces.
5. Starter Dog Cap E.100138 - 2 dogs are broken off, remaining dog cracked.
