the springs and to enable the variable periodicity device to be used on the same scheme as the present system. It is hoped to complete this next week.

(5) Clutch - It is hoped to complete designs for a modified single plate clutch with sheet metal cover plate and without metal serrated couplings in about ten days time.

(6) Lower rear axle ratio - N. Sch.4121 - completed and issued - 4 1/2 to 1 ratio.

(7) Adjustable brake ropes - design will be put in hand as soon as other more urgent work is completed.

(8) Reduction of sponge in brake operation. N. Sch's 4198 and 4202 are completed and issued - reduced torsional flexibility between operating lever and camshaft. A design is in hand and will shortly be completed for - steel shoes with reduced 'spring'.

(9) Steering - Marles type of available - no design work is at present called for.

(10) Ground clearance - We have ascertained that Dunlops can supply us with 1" dia. wheels and tyres within ten weeks of receipt of instructions. Will the Experimental Department please order these. These will raise the car 1/2" all round. A scheme is in hand for raising the battery box and increasing the clearance under the sheet metal crossmember; it will take some little time to complete, but will be arranged so that it can be put on after the chassis is completed.
