-4- HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}16/KW.4.12.34. REMARKS. This car has been running for most of its mileage under Continental road conditions, with the controllable dampers set in the maximum position. In its present condition the car is full of rattles and other irritating noises. These are all coming from the doors and mudguards, the front doors being especially bad. The wheel wells are too wide, permitting the wheels too much movement sideways, the side carrier brackets being very flexible. One carrier bracket plate is cracked. Lack of bonnet clearance would also account for a considerable amount of thumping. The condition of the front mudguards, considering they were repaired after the first 10,000 miles, is very bad. In all our previous tests in France we have experienced the same trouble with aluminium mudguards. As the next 10,000 miles Bentley is fitted with steel mudguards and controllable dampers, the comparison will be interesting. This body was not checked before going to France. In future all new bodies will be measured at given points to check the body movement. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/F.{Mr Friese} Dodd. | ||
