Description: FELT WASHER PROTECTION FOR FRONT BRAKE IDLER LEVERS, OILITE BUSHES.
Purpose: To prevent seizures and to bring into line with general practice with oilite bushes.
Brief Report and Remarks: Fitted to 32-EX. Will run in France on 39.EX.
Small felt washers added to exclude water, bearing primed with oil on assembly. Very few cases of seizure have occured here, this is a preventative measure only. Existing parts can be modified if necessary.
The similar modification on the rear bell crank levers has effected a very considerable improvement.

Production Position and Comments: Felt protection washers and stainless steel bushes for front brake idler levers increase Factory Cost of Chassis by 2/7d. and involve a tool cost of £16.0.0d., they may be introduced without scrap at 175th. chassis in 'E' series. As an alternative the scheme could be standardised on the 1st. chassis in 'E' series if the following parts were scrapped. -
