re 40 m.m. Naval Gun type BD.{Mr Berend}
Ejector Shield.

Attached to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH's. copy of this memo. is the original of QPL.117 showing the final design for the Ejector Shield, type BD.{Mr Berend} gun.

The design is based upon the mock-up ejector shield produced at a range at Eastney.

In order to make a strong job of the plate, we have moved the rear sight a small amount to which we believe there is no objection.

We would like the whole of the ejector shield to be finished in Black Browning Gun Finish including the nuts etc.

There seems to be a little difficulty with the facing for the trigger handle casing as it overlaps one of the main bolt faces on the cradle, entailing some machining difficulties.
