84693 To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c.c. Spr. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} E.6/HP.13.12.32. re Peregrine Oil Temperature. Referring to your memo R.2/M.6.12.32, please find attached blueprint of LeC.3291 showing a proposed bottom half for Peregrine crankcase which has increased oil capacity, and also oil cooling ribs. The normal amount of oil it is proposed to carry in this sump is 1 1/2 gallons, and we should like to alter the inscription of the oil level gauge to that shown on the drawing, replacing the word "normal" against the central marking with that of "minimum" so as to encourage the maintenance of the quantity of oil in use. This drawing does not show the oil drain cock combined with the oil level device as that matter is being dealt with separately. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
