Further to our memo Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}19/M.18.2.37 regarding the work you are carrying out on the cylinder heads of the above car, we are at the request of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to fit outside oil drain pipes from the cylinder head.

This has previously been carried out experimentally to LeC4724 but the scheme we are asking you to fit is a modification to this LeC and comprises

(a) Unions screwed into the head behind the inlet valve recesses, that is, 6 per head as compared with 3 on LeC4724.

(b) The 6 small pipes per head come down to a main gallery pipe which runs behind the exhaust manifold.

(c) The holes for the drain unions in the crankcase as shown on LeC4724 cannot be drilled while the unit is in the car.

As an alternative we want to put a single drain union in the lower half on the vertical face on A side.

(d) Running round the rear of the engine a connecting pipe to be fitted between each cylinder head gallery pipe and thence down to the sump drain union.

(e) The general dimensions of the pipes as shown on LeC4724.
