Dear Sirs,

re Sessions Hydraulic Jacks for R.R. Phantom III Chassis.

Further to our discussions at Birmingham on Friday of last week, we have now carried out tests on the first 8 production Phantom III chassis, and we have found defective jacks as follows:-

2 - which leak at the gland.
1 - which failed to retract.
3 - which are leaking past the threads of the top cap.

The first three of the above we returned to Shelleys by hand last Friday, and the remaining three we are sending back under separate cover today. We should be glad if you will let us have replacements for these six as quickly as possible.

With regard to the three which are leaking at the cap, we shall be glad to have your report on these as quickly as possible, and we suggest that when they are dismantled the rubber cups should be examined to see if the adhesion to the metal is good in every case, and also to see how much flash there is on the rubber.
