X.7720. BALLAST RESISTANCES FOR 20 HP. CHASSIS X.5680.

RUGERONI.

Referring to Whr{Mr Wheeler}/Mac{Mr Macintosh}4/MA27.5.30, we would like to correct the impression that this department have recommended reserve ballast resistances for this purpose. The matter has been discussed with us only by Mr.Rugeroni Junr. (after Mr.Rugeroni Senr. had left the Works) and according to his description the failures that have occurred have been due to the imperfect action of the tungsten contact points. This is a question which is undergoing full investigation at the present moment in view of the fact that we have one or two complaints of imperfect action of the tungsten contact points from other sources though there appears to be no general trouble.

We consider that the provision of spare ballast resistances is not the right thing to do but rather the provision of spare tungsten contact point levers and screws, a limited number of which spares might be charged to our expense.
