Continuation No. 1.

Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd.

(3) We agree to hold the poundage of the green thrust springs within the limits of 110 - 115 lbs.

(4) We should be pleased if you would urge forward the despatch of the special arbour which you are producing to suit the 13½ diameter driven plates required for "Phantom" III.

(5) In connection with the balance of 13½ diameter friction plates, definite arrangements have now been made for holding these within the limits specified.

(6) We have despatched the various items outstanding which were previously returned to us for modification, per Passenger Train, and trust that same are now safely to hand.

In regard to the concluding paragraph of your letter wherein you suggest that we arrange for the engine timing marks to be engraved or etched on the clutch cover, we feel that it would be to our mutual advantage for you to carry out this particular operation. As you are aware, our pressed steel clutch covers are treated with an anti-rust process during manufacture, and our suggestion is therefore, that you arrange for the engine timing marks to be scratched on the cover by a suitable scriber, and after this operation that the scratched marks be covered with a thin coat of gold size or clear cellulose varnish.

By carrying out the above procedure, we suggest it would not be necessary for the local cleaning up process, which you have adopted prior to marking the cover for engine timing.

Yours faithfully,
BORG & BECK COMPANY LIMITED,

H.T.Barker.
