- 2 - PHANTOM III 4. (contd) however for more chassis than the six already provided for to be available for the Exhibition, the possibility of providing the last ten of the first half of "D", in addition to the first six of the second half of "D", with the overdrive box by the end of July according to the present chassis building programme is being investigated, and will be reported at the meeting on Monday next. 5. Wraith Wheel Movement It was decided that this will not be introduced into "D" series at all in view of the fact that there are no serious criticisms of the P.III steering, that all material for "D" series is available to the present design and that the cost of scrap and tools would be £1350. and £595. respectively. 6. Open Type Fuses. A limited number are now available for Repair Dept. for immediate requirements, and it is intended to send out such modified fuses for existing cars in customers' hands as, and when, available. 7. Larger Carburettor Jets In view of the necessity of reverting to the large carburettor jets in connection with the modification to carburettors whereby the idling speed is increased to 350 revs and the carburettor is slightly tilted, and in view of S. having reported that they have no adverse criticisms of this modification on the cars in London, Experimental Dept. have now been asked to make a recommendation on this question of carburettor jets coupled with the idling speed modification. W. report that the reversion to the larger carburettor jets will not mean an increase in fuel consumption. 8. Ammeter Failure It was decided that the changeover of this would commence | ||
