| CJ1/E3/3/25 - 4 - C. POLICY AS TO WHAT WE SHALL, AT THE OUTSET, deliver. One course is that we should deliver chassis without FWB to which it is believed FWB can eventually be fitted. The second course is that we should defer deliveries until we can deliver chassis complete with FWB. Obviously the second course is the more desirable, provided that the delay in delivery is not such that (a). it will drive orders into the hands of our competitors; (b). it will financially embarrass us by lack of receipts of cash from purchasers; (c). it will render idle to a disastrous degree certain sections of the Works (e.g. assembly and testing of 20 HP chassis); (d) it will reduce our invoicing for the current year and thus affect our profits for the year to an extent which it may be difficult to explain to shareholders. This brings us to the study of what is likely to be the delay involved by adopting the second course. R.{Sir Henry Royce} advises that we should build and store such parts of the chassis as are not affected by F.W.B. until such time as F.W.B. have been proved and passed for manufacture. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}, in consultation with the Order Office and Works, records: (a). That, provided there is no unforeseen delay on the part of West WitteringHenry Royce's home town and Order Office, the Works should be in a position to pass to assembly F.W.B. and the parts affected by F.W.B. by the 14th June; | ||
