To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}12/MJ.3.11.30. Attached is a note from Barkers. We discussed the question of purchasing the Maybach with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} a week ago. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that R's enthusiasm for the purchase of this car was very slight. Naturally, if R.{Sir Henry Royce} is not keen on buying a Maybach we do not want to push such a proposition. However, if it is agreed that the programme for next year is a twelve cylinder engine for the big car, buying a sample might prevent us making some errors. It really boils down to what the policy for the next show is going to be. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Attached: Letter from Barkers dated Nov. 1st.1930. Ref. AA{D.
