x6008, To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.4/HP.12.6.33. c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Mr. Screened Ignition Plugs for Tank Engines. Referring to the contract for supplying two types of screened plugs to the War Office and also testing same, we think these tests as discussed, should be as follows:- No.1. Test if plug screen fails with water dropping on cables, and plug screens generally. No.2. Test breakdown voltage under working temperature conditions. No.3. Test effect of plug screens on maximum working gap of plug points. This can be the subject of the test in the Laboratory, but should certainly be tried also on an engine.
