| mer XC 879. J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} for R.{Sir Henry Royce} 12.3.15. Dal/G12315. In reply to your note R9/IBL0315, re the parts broken on the Bumping Machine, I send herewith a print of F.2421 - general arrangement of the rear spring centre swivel, as it has been in use from the beginning. With regard to the cause of breakage, we had a theory that, owing to the spring having practically constantly, negative camber of some amount or other, there was a longitudinal horizontal push on the swivel pin which the supporting brackets were not, perhaps, very well adapted to resist. I do not know whether you think there is anything in this theory. I am proceeding to make a scheme for an improved flange for the piece F.1328. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Wa{Mr Wallis} | ||
