Continuation of engine unit test procedures for B.III No. 7 and the procedures for B.60 No. 2 Unit.

-3- B.III NO. 7 - CONT'D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (a) Check valve bounce speed. (d) Run 1 hr. oil consumption and repeat, note whether any leaks from rear bearing. (e) Remove push rods and examine for "whipping". (f) Timing gears, check for quietness, also whether any rattle at equivalent speed of 18 m.p.h top gear under load as per Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s car. (g) Note whether any overoiling in exhaust after idling hot for 15 mins. (h) Leaks to be cured and unit tuned up before passing off. No. 5 TEST HOUSE. B.60 No.2 UNIT. New unit to same specification as 1st., test as follows prior to fitting in chassis. (1) Running in. (2) Power curve, open exhaust. Check switching off from 3000 R.P.M. also after shutting down to idling. (3) Check power with B.II exhaust silencer giving max. power and non detonating power giving ignition advance in each condition. Check actual governor characteristic with initial setting of 5° BTDC and note whether any detonations. These tests on Shell. (4) Carry out tappet clearances on the inlet valve having steel push rods. Cold at .003. Water heated to 80°C ? Water and oil at 80°C ? | ||
