RECEIVED 4 NOV 1932

My dear R.{Sir Henry Royce},

I have just seen your memorandum relative to car for your use.

It seems fairly clear that there is a misunder-standing somewhere. What really happened was that when I was at Derby last week I was asked whether we could not find an up-to-date comfortable closed car for you to use instead of 16-G-4, which, as you say, is several years old, thoroughly out of date with the old type radiator stuck up on top of the frame, etc. etc.

I started things moving immediately to find out what we could get either from stock or what was coming through, and we were going to put forward a proposal very shortly.

It certainly was mentioned that if they had 16-G-4 back at Derby they could make good use of the unit, but this was incidental and not the main idea of effecting a change, and if you prefer to keep 16-G-4 you have only to say so for it to be arranged.

I note that you would like a 4-seater Saloon owner-driver type of car, and we think one which has been doing some demonstration work in France and which should be available in about ten days might be suitable, and unless I hear from you to the contrary I will arrange for you to have this.

Please disabuse your mind of any idea that there was anything of a cheese-paring nature behind what we had in mind to do for you; on the contrary we wanted to give you something better than you had got.

Yours very sincerely,

P.S. Would you like to have back 20-G-4, i.e. the car you had at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence and released to us for early synchro-mesh demonstration?
