Re. Syringes.

With reference to the syringe we send out with the car, this appears to be about the bestsize also for the operation of spraying the petrol into the indiction pipe. They are rather good in this respect, thay they are often used in connection with oil, and therefore the leather of the plunger is kept in fair order. They could, I think, be improved by having the nozzle either fastened on permanently or screwed on with a nut which would leave the joint stationary while the nut ran round on the brass. The joint could then be fitted with a fibre or ebonite ring, slightly elastic and compressible, or the joint could be made tight by slightly grinding it, which is impossible when the piece screws on as a whole. In the little syringe you have sent me the nozzle screws off with a small nut, but I fear this would not be quite handy enough, as very often when using oil the syringe is filled by taking off the end.

I therefore think that perhaps it will be better to retain the large diameter of opening, although it need not be made big enough for the piston to come out at that end, it should be large enough for oil to be quickly poured in, which would suggest a hole about 3/4" in diameter. The sketch will make clear what I mean.
