Notes of Meeting. The matter is urgent really because it is quite obvious that we shall have to live with the present Bentley engine for several years. Re Front Axle control, the Experimental Department agree that they still want to test the scheme with the shock absorbers moved out. Re Water Excluders - it was agreed that we could fit these to actual cases of customers' complaints and on production as soon as possible after standardisation. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that he had in hand the work in connection with reducing the arc of embrace to that of the 20/25 as referred to in the former Minutes. Re Brakes Fading, for the reasons given in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Cry.16/EW.5.2.35. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said he had issued a scheme to deal with this but that it yet has to be made and tried, and in view of the danger element, especially on descents from mountains, this is really an urgent job. Re Isolated Change Gear Lever, this has been fitted to En's and Lp{Mr Lappin}'s cars and will be tested on 5-B-IV with a view to standardisation. Re Brakes, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} said that the Experimental Dept. wished to test the complete Girling set-up of brakes and will show E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} what they propose to fit to 3-B-IV. Worst Features on Bentley Cars. 1. Performance in view of increased weight. 2. Fading of Brakes. Re Steering - Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} raised the question of all our steerings having become stiffer. This applies to the Bentley as well as the 40/50 and the 20/25. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} undertook to investigate this with the Works in order to try to arrive at the true cause. P.T.O. | ||
