THE FRAZER-NASH - B.M.W. 16.2 - H.P. (9ft. WHEELBASE) TYPE 320 FOUR - SEATER TWO - DOOR SALOON MODEL The Type 320 Saloon is the lowest-priced of the 16-h.p. models in the Frazer-Nash-B.M.W. range. The main features of its specification are the powerful and smooth 6-cyl. O.H.V. engine unit, rigid box-section chassis frame with integral body floor, independent suspension of the front wheels (transverse spring above) with independent steering, 4-wheel hydraulic brakes with automatic adjustment. The well-built all-steel saloon with "turret top" provides inter-axle seating for all passengers, and is upholstered in best quality cloth. ENGINE 2-litre; bore 66 mm. x stroke 96 mm. ; capacity 1,971 c.c. ; compression ratio 6 to 1. Annual Tax £12 15s. 6 cylinders. O.H. valves operated by pushrods. Solex carburetter, fitted with easy-starting device, large air cleaner and silencer with connection to valve cover for removal of engine fumes. 4-bearing crankshaft. Ignition by Bosch coil and distributor. Cooling by impeller pump and fan. Hand-operated radiator shutters. Single dry-plate clutch. 4-speeds gearbox—ratios: Top, 4.3 to 1; 3rd, 6.6 to 1; 2nd, 9.8 to 1 and 1st, 16 to 1. Silent 2nd with synchromesh operative between 3rd and top gears. Orthodox transmission by dynamically-balanced propeller shaft to spiral bevel final drive. CHASSIS Frame of closed box-section, with three substantial cross-members. Front wheels are independently sprung (by transverse spring). Semi-elliptic springs at rear. Hydraulic shock absorbers. Hand-braking on all four wheels, controlled by foot-brake. Hand-brake, separately cable-operated, to rear wheels only. Rack and pinion steering—front wheels independently steered. Bosch electrical equipment throughout (as on all models). Chassis equipment includes "one-shot" lubrication, easy-jacking system. Dunlop 5.50 x 16 low-pressure tyres on disc wheels, rear petrol tank of over 11-gallons capacity—fuel supply maintained by mechanical pump operated from camshaft, excellent tool-kit (in detachable box), full range of instruments with rheostat illumination control for night driving. CHASSIS Downswept tubular steel frame—3 cross-members. Front wheels independently sprung and steered. Semi-elliptic springs at rear. Hydraulic shock absorbers front and rear. Rack and pinion steering. Hydraulic brakes (with automatic adjustment). Foot-brake controls all 4 wheels, with hand-brake separately cable-operated to rear wheels. "One-shot" chassis lubrication. Rear petrol tank of large capacity with external filler. Dunlop low-pressure tyres on disc wheels—detachable —knock-off eared hub caps. Vigot easy-jacking system.
